Plavix and low dose aspirin

I am just wondering how people feel while taking this combination. I am bruising easily. Anyone else have any side effects?

Yep, I am one big bruise! I have a active job and a puppy so I am one complete bruise for the next 5 months. Nobody warned me about your period on plavix/ASA, it was not pretty either.

Hi Lyn,

I had nausea and felt light headed the first two weeks and it gradually went away. I make sure to eat when I take it though. I did have some bruising but not too bad. I've been taking Plavix since my procedure in July and hope to stop in November if all is well following my TEE.

Good to know that others have had the same symptoms. Syl - do you have to have another tee done? I would have thought that an echo would be enough.

I actually just got a call today to let me know it will be a echo. Also I can stop the Plavix at the end of October. Really glad about that! My follow-up will be Dec 19. Hope yous side effects go away.

Wow! That is great! I have to take the Plavix for 6 months so I won't be ending it until February. I have to be so careful with the bruising!

Merci beaucoup pour tes commentaires!

Hi Lyn!

I was on Plavix and low-dose asprin for 6 months after my procedure. I too, was one big bruse! I did experience upset stomachs more often, but that coud have been due to vaious things, I don't hold the meds responsible but it is certainly possible.

Thanks for the comments about Plavix & low dose aspirin.

Appreciate it!

I just started Plavix and aspirin (had my ASD closed 6 days ago with the amplatzer device). I am not looking forward to the bruising and so far have not had an upset stomach. The only thing I am feeling is achy, almost all over. It's as if I had bruises everywhere but I can't see any. I hope it goes away, and thankfully, it is actually better today than yesterday.

Jessi - The bruising started about a week after. Some people are more prone to bruising than others - especially if you are fair-skinned.

I just have to be careful because I have had some bad bruises.

I think that feeling achy is a side effect of Plavix from what I have read. It will probably get better with time - don't worry.

Hope you are feeling well and getting your energy back.

Lyn
