Pre surgical advice

I remember the day before and the day of surgery very well. I asked every question I could think of. I helped put a fellow heart patient’s mind at rest ( she was having heart surgery the next day and also happened to be a neurologist herself). She was very scared and concerned but whatever I said calmed her down and put her mind at rest. I made sure my family understood what was going to happen. Having my chest shaved was not fun but it had to be done. I made a mix of music which I listened to until a couple of minutes before they put me to sleep. I was excited about the whole thing- I knew the recovery would not be fun at least my heart would be fixed and I could get on with my life once everything had healed etc.
