Are their blood thinners other tham Warfarin that do not have a problem with valves

I was born with a severe form of ASD, the hole being next to the valves. In 1967 it was repaired but the mitral valve was not for some reason. Now it needs to be replaced but the only blood thinner offered is Warfarin which I have trouble controlling since life gets in the way. I have food sensitivities and need to vary my diet which Warfarin does not like. I am at the point where I could care less what the INR readings are and have not even had the surgery yet. I informed the surgeon that blood thinners will be a problem going forward and the surgery seems to be on hold. The newer blood thinners all are not recommended for heart valve replacements. The atrial fib will probably be there for life now, caused by the ASD. I have already had surgery to remove scar tissue left behind/created by the ASD surgery.

How about cumadin or heprin?

cumadin is warfarin, heprin is by intravenous not practical
