Hi Anabel,

What type of procedure are you having? The amplatzer or oppen heart surgery?

Whichever you are having both are relativly safe procedures- It is always scary at the beggining but the scariest is not knowing what it entails. Thats why it is important you have a discussion with your doctor that is the best person to answer ypur questions. This way you will feel safer,

Hi Anabel

Good day , dont worry ASD closure is nowadays is like closing a wound with Bandaid. Its very simple and 200% ia m sure that it not scared to Death.. Be positive because 8 yrs back i have undergone this surgery and now i am feeling gud..

thanks

regards,

Bala

What are you having done?
I feel like the people who have open heart surgery have the best long term health, but so far so good with the Gore Helex.

I feel like its pretty safe. My husband had the open heart surgery 25 years ago to close his ASD (a lot has changed since then)and he just did the Army 10 miler a few months ago. My son had the Amplatzer put in 2 years ago right after he turned four. It was just out patient and he was running around the next day.

If you do have concerns though I would suggest calling your specialist and letting them know. They may be able to calm some of your fears a little.

I know it's hard not to worry, it is scary. But you will see that it's a very simple procedure. It doesn't hurt or anything. You won't feel it. The worst part of the whole thing I think was the TEE. I had my ASD closure in 2006 and feel awesome! I have a whole new outlook on life now and I'm sure you will, too. Try not to worry so much, you will be fine:)

Thank u, had tee it was a piece of cake. Did u have sypmtoms, I don't

thank u for your advise

Hi Anabel,
I went in for the Amplatzer device which was unsuccessful. 3 months later I had successful Open Heart Surgery. Feeling scared is normal. I wasn’t too scared when I had the device procedure because it was less evasive, but the day before my OHS, I was petrified until I saw the nurse at the hospital on admission. It is a safe procedure, but with any surgery there are risks & both device & OHS have low risks. If you have any concerns, speak to your doctor.
Good luck with it all, you will be fine.

OH my God I'm not going 4 open heart. Why what happened

Hi.I went through the same procedure 10 months ago. Prior too the procedure, I too was frighten. After the procedure, I felt much better. I am happy I had it done.

thank u, I have a full plate. I am unemployed and grieving the loss of my mom. I have no symptoms but my health ins is endind. I have 2 pay 5000 out of pocket.Did u stay overnite
