ASD hole size

Hi

I was wondering what is the maximum hole size in order to be able to avoid OH circuity and have the amplatzer device procedure instead??

I've heard numbers around 32mm. Mine was too big, at around 38mm.

It’s not just the size of the hole. My daughter’s was 13mm but the rim was too small on one side to attach the device, so she had to have OHS.

hi i have a asd that is 24mm and they tryed to close it through catheritation 6 weeks ago but there is but without sucess the rim was not right and they had trouble intubating me so i am seeing a surgeon on the 18th march to discuss open heart surgery a bit nervous .luv grace

I can’t be much help regarding size. But location is a factor as well. If too close to the valve, OH may be needed.

i willl know what the outcome is going to be on the 18th this month it will be open heart surgery ,they were going to do that ,in the first place but they thought they would give it a go through the groin first to save me having the big op . luv grace
